Job Title: ETL DataStage Developer

Location: Bloomington, MN (Locals only)

Duration: 4+ Months

Job Description:  The primary responsibility of this role will to be part of the DataStage 11.5 conversion/migration team moving from DataStage 8.5 to DataStage 11.5. 

The ETL DataStage Developer consultant will convert DataStage 8.5 code to DataStage 11.5, test the DataStage 11.5 code and migrate the changed and tested DataStage 11.5 code to production. This position follows standard concepts, practices, and procedures that meet the technical specifications as designed by IS&T EIM Business & Data Design Analysts, as well as IS&T EIM team DataStage technical and coding standards and best practices. The ETL DataStage Developer consultant makes use of the IBM DataStage ETL Tool and utilizes ETL standard processes and procedures to move data, manage metadata, and ensure the integrity, validity, security and auditability of company critical information assets. This role follows standard development life-cycle processes (Agile/Lean, Waterfall, Hybrid) and follows the technical coding specifications for production, testing, QA and implementation processes. The candidate will have hands on experience with large scale enterprise ETL development of data warehouses with technologies appropriate for the platform where development occurs (Oracle, DataStage, AIX, etc.). Actual experience with migration of ETL code from DataStage 8.x to DataStage 11.x will be favorable.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Convert, test, implement and optimize DataStage 11.5 ETL workflows and transformations

Triage the resolution of complex data integration DataStage ETL issues in a timely manner

Contributes as needed to the design and development of exception handling, data standardization procedures and Quality Assurance controls

Convert the DataStage 8.5 ETL packages to DataStage 11.5 according to specifications

Participates in DataStage ETL code reviews

Update DataStage ETL Technical specifications with changes as code is updated

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

4+ years experience with DataStage ETL development

4+ years experience using IBM DataStage Tools - preferable version 11+ and Server & Parallel

Demonstrated experience with PL/SQL and knowledge of Oracle RDBMS

Ability to estimate DataStage ETL efforts

Ability to manage tasks, work independently and be a team player

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Demonstrated experience performing data integration utilizing DataStage ETL tools to develop, implement, and optimize DataStage ETL workflows and transformations

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Healthcare (payer, provider, and/or pharmacy benefit management) experience

Experience with migration of DataStage ETL code from DataStage 8.x to DataStage 11.x

Experience using IBM QualityStage and Change Data Capture (CDC) tools

Experience with AIX 5.x or equivalent UNIX operating system

Experience with AutoSys or equivalent job scheduling tool experience

Familiarity with SDLC (systems development life cycle) such as Agile/Lean and waterfall

Understanding of data models, staging, landing and data cohorts, ODS and various data schemas

Strong documentation and diagramming skills
