Purpose: The Cognos Report Developer will be responsible for designing, architecting and implementing comprehensive business-facing reporting solutions. The successful candidate will have several years of data warehouse experience combined with a solid knowledge of dimensional data models and multidimensional cube implementations. User interface design skills will also be required to deliver ergonomic reports that meet the business need.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Design, develop, and test enterprise analysis, reporting and dashboard solutions using the Cognos 8.4 report studio software.
· Work with business end users to assist them in defining report requirements as well as providing assistance in creating custom reports and ad-hoc queries
· Work closely with the Data Architecture/Data Modeling team in the design of analytical databases that facilitate business analysis and enterprise reporting solutions
· Work with business end users on analytical projects, leveraging the strategic value of corporate data.
· Proactively keep abreast of new techniques and practices utilizing the Cognos toolset and assist the Data Warehouse and Reporting team to apply Cognos effectively and efficiently
Position Requirements:
· 4 year college degree in Business or Computer Science
· 3-5 years experience in all areas of Cognos including report studio, analysis studio, metric studio and framework manager.
· Technical knowledge regarding best practices of Cognos configuration and customizations including the Cognos SDK.
· Significant experience working with dimensional modeling including understanding facts and dimensions, star and snowflake schemas, and OLAP tools and techniques
· Experience with multidimensional Cube technologies such as Analysis Services
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Basic knowledge of the Insurance industry experience is a strong plus.
