JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client’s Platform Application Services team is looking for talented database developers capable of designing and implementing OLTP database solutions that power their award-winning family of interactive products. Their databases support the server architecture that form the backbone of their product in connection with customers, payment systems and other central reservations systems around the world. Their systems are designed to handle high volumes of daily transactions and perform in a real-time 24x7 environment so robustness, scalability, and reliability are critical. The Platform Application Services team is part of the Global Computing Services division of our client.
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement powerful, highly scalable, and reliable database server applications.
• Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs.
• Interact with software developers, program managers, and quality assurance engineers to contribute to and review functional specifications and test cases.
• Innovate and implement new ideas to solve complex software problems.
• Resolve defects in your own and other’s code.
• Contribute to advancing the team’s design methodology and quality programming practices.
Qualifications:
• Experience using SQL Server 2005 and System Management Studio.
• Experience with CRM and ERP systems also required; cannot submit candidates who don’t have this. Work with the architects on designing a system with CRM concepts at the root.
• Ability to drive to the core of problems and solve them.
• Data modeling experience using CASE tools at both logical and physical level is critical.
• Ability to implement physical database objects, managing data, building/extending toolsets, extensive knowledge of Transact-SQL, transactions, error handling, etc.
• Ability to read/write schema/data models and utilize related tools (PowerDesigner is a plus) .
• Experience with performance tuning and analyzing query execution plans.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to detect and correct problems within SQL scripts.
• Experience with Java or .Net technologies helpful though not required.
• Familiarity with source code management and version control concepts (experience with Perforce a plus).
• Experience with job scripting and scheduling technologies, such as Perl, VBScript, SQL Agent and DOS command.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• A strong drive to learn new technologies.
• A passion for building great software.
• Developed databases using SQL Server 2005.
• A BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing and implementing relational databases in a professional software engineering role.
