Position Title: (Automation) Quality Assurance Engineer
Job Summary: This highly technical position is responsible for performing a variety of quality assurance activities within the software product development organization. Customer is focused on the management of medical records and laboratory test orders and results. This position is focused on development of test environments, test plans and test programs for a variety of message based interfaces across multiple products.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Design, development and execution of quality assurance test plans and strategies.
2. Participate in the review of new product requirements. Provides constructive feedback about the consistency and depth of the requirements.
3. Identifies tests that are most appropriate for automation, creates and maintains both automated and manual tests, and applies techniques that insure maintainable test assets.
4. Defines, develops and executes test strategies considering risk and cost of testing.
5. Design, development and maintenance of test assets. These assets will likely include Web Services client programs, silk test scripts for functional testing activities.
6. Execution of test plans
7. Work with development engineers to identify and resolve defects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Good understanding of Software development life cycle with an emphasis on Quality Assurance.
2. Linux/Unix system administration experience.
3. Demonstrated skills with automation tools such as Silk, Perl or other scripting language.
4. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
5. Ability to adapt and quickly refocus in an agile software development environment.
6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
7. Ability to understand the features and customer expectations of assigned responsibilities.
8. Experience programming skills with some OO language such as VB.Net, Java, C++, or C#
Optional Skills:
1. Knowledge of HTTP, HTML, XML, SOAP or WebServices (Desirable)
2. Knowledge of HL7, NCPDP, 270/271" is a plus (Desirable)
3. Knowledge Database administration, preferably Oracle
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree (BS) or greater in applicable field, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of Four (4) years of experience in a formal QA or Development role in a software development organization or equivalent experience.
3. Minimum four (4) years experience with programming or scripting.
4. Experience with Unix/Linux system administration.
5. Experience creating software test assets such as automated tests.
