Summary Job Objectives:
· Provides ongoing support for the mainframe platform during the transition and afterwards.
· Strong knowledge of z/OS, CICS, ACF2, VTAM, TCPIP, COBOL, ASG, LRS, INFOPAC, access controls, automated operations and Storage Area Networks.
· Maintains 7X24 availability and a willingness to work any schedule.
· Lead role in the responsibility for providing direction, management and administration of resources and related software throughout the process of the mainframe retirement project.
· Advanced analytical and technical work on planning, selection, maintenance, design and implementation of the mainframe hardware, operating system and 3rd party vendor supported software.
· Duties include technical programming, analytical and research work, installation, customization and maintaining systems and software in a complex data processing environment.
· Liaison between hosting vendor and BTS.
· Knowledge of ITIL processes including change/configuratio n/incident/ problem management, disaster recovery techniques.
· Participates in project work providing support to project teams, with the ability to lead large efforts.
· Self-motivated; effectively manages and performs personal daily activities and multiple major projects under the discipline of defined departmental business processes.
· Programming skills and knowledge of current county mainframe applications a plus.
· Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership and driving issues to a successful close, even when accountability for those issues cross organizational boundaries.
· Drives and persuades others, as a SME, on the mainframe transition/retireme nt project.
Work Hours, Alternate Work Location, and Expected Duration:
Normal business hours of 8:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., unless otherwise directed, and maintains 7X24 availability and a willingness to work any schedule. No alternate work locations are identified.
Summary Job Description:
Key resource as the liaison between Pinellas County Government and the mainframe hosting provider. Additional responsibilities include supporting the programmers in the retirement and/or transition of the mainframe applications to a distributed/ open system platform.
Position duties require:
- Communication with programming staff, understanding of the system administrative functions of a mainframe environment, and liason/communicator to vendor staff.
- Understanding of application programming methodology is beneficial but not required for this position. More traditional system administration of the mainframe OS environment and some 3rd party applications is expected.
- No supervisory or staff management is required. Functions as a technical team lead.
Computer equipment and work space will be provided to candidate by Pinellas County Government.
