Seeking a high level consultant who can come in and help assess the environment, suggest needs, build, engineer, support and get the system up and running on Sybase IQ. Develop a thin set of standards in which they can pass off to the operations team

JOB TITLE: SYBASE IQ Resource

 

1. Sybase IQ and ASE environment health checks

2. Document IQ and ASE environments

3. Support / resolve issues and review / analyze root-cause

a. Offhours (after business hours & weekend) support, if needed

4. Patching, if required

5. Monitor/Support backup and recovery actions

6. Manage/Administer Sybase IQ and ASE on a daily basis including change requests

7. Automate common IQ and ASE administration activities

8. Performance tune where necessary

9. Knowledge transfer to Ops DBAs/TCS

a. Lehman IQ and ASE environments

b. IQ and ASE management/administration best practices/how-to's including but not limited to:

i. Day-to-day management/administration

ii. Patching

iii. Backup/recovery

iv. Monitoring

1. Identify and address potential issues before escalation to platform failures

2. Identification and utilization of correct metrics, thresholds, and alerts monitoring and management

v. Review and recommend strategies to automate some of the common IQ and ASE administration activities

vi. Performance tuning
