Position: Business Analyst
Duration: 6 months contract to hire
Keys to Winning: looking for someone with about 3 years' experience. Someone who can be the go between the IT and Operations group. Must be able to write both IT requirements and business requirements. This is not a programmer position. It is a true Analyst who can talk technical.
Position Overview:
· Serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Document and track a common and complete understanding of product and project requirements (e.g. stories, use cases, tests as specifications, context diagrams, process maps, traceability matrices, site maps, navigation design).
· Be comfortable with breaking up larger projects into right sized stories optimized for effective agile development.
Quickly recognize how larger requirements can be quickly broken up into smaller pieces that the development team can consume effectively as part of an iteration while providing some end-to-end value for the business.
· Shepard stories through the entire process, helping to reduce the time between its start and finish time.
· Perform detailed testing on a story that confirms the basic functionality works and verify there are not other problems with the functionality delivered by the story.
· Track tests to ensure all testing has been completed before a release
· Coordinate root cause analysis of production/pilot bugs or problems
· Willing and able to stand in for a Product Owner:
· Able to represent the Product Owner in meetings, able to discuss the project from many angles
· Is OK with signing off or approving that what software was delivered was what was asked for (and required) to meet the business needs
· Perform Admin level changes requested/needed for applications.
· Document all customer requests in an issue tracking system, assist in triage and reaction to stakeholder requests and resolutions
· Assists with preparation of presentations and demonstrations
· Adhere to IT standards, processes, project work plans and deadlines
Experience Requirements:
Basic (Required)
· BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and recent, relevant work experience
· Minimum 3 years of experience in either the areas of technical production, business analysis, technical support or related software development/support positions.
· Knowledge and experience working with and analyzing Web-based systems.
· Creative problem solving skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Must have strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within a cross-functional environment.
· Needs strong sense of accountability and ownership of end result
· Ability to provide quality service by appropriate follow-through, urgency, and persistence.
· Open to the idea that all requirements should be written in the form of a test
· Must be sensitive to cultural differences in interactions and in the way work is done
· Adaptive and able to deal with conflicting requirements and the progressive definition of details through the story and project life cycle
Preferred
· Experience with Test Driven Requirements/Development
· Experience with Oracle RDBMS
· Familiar with Agile Scrum practices
· Familiar with writing stories
· Able to quickly learn new businesses and concepts
· Work independently with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
