. 3 years of experience in a data warehouse environment and have a thorough understanding of data warehouse concepts including hub-and-spoke architecture
. Knowledge of Cognos and understanding of Cognos front end user interface and report authoring.
This warehouse project is part of a broad initiative to make critical DODD information available to constituents including county boards of DD. Successful implementation will provide efficiencies within county boards and utilization of data will help to ensure health and safety of consumers.
This position is going to be responsible for connecting to a SQL Server 2008 database, writing SQL to grab the correct data, use SSIS to transform the data and populate the data warehouse tables. If this person does not have experience with data warehouse concepts and data movement/transformation then we cannot use them. This person needs to be able to get up to speed quickly and produce results quickly.
Work with business users to determine source data to correctly populate the target data model. Usually from mapping documents, but also through discussion develop SQL to correctly pull that source data into SSIS packages and transform it to fit the target data model. Designing packages to handle Type 1, Type 2, and Type 6 slowly changing dimensions. Configuring packages to be able to run in a production environment and with auditability built in. Validating packages to run without error and to fix data inconsistency issues by working with business users. Documenting all packages and updating mapping documents. | | |
