SQL DBA

Location :  Pleasanton,CA

Duration :  3- 6 months.

Rate  : $ 55/hr.

Start Date : ASAP

 

Qualifications:

•           8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator, working directly with SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008 handling 2- 10+ TB databases

•           Experience in database design, SQL tuning, and performance analysis (Candidates must have in-depth understanding of Join methods, data access path, and SQL Traces)

•           Experience in the use of Windows Clustering/Networking, Partitioning and indexing,

•           Experience in backup and recovery design using Netbackup and hands-on knowledge of High Availability SQL Server solutions, including Log Shipping, and Replication

•           Strong knowledge in the use of SQL Server Tools: DTS/SSIS, SSRS, SSMS

•           Demonstrated use of scripting, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Cursors, Logins and Views

•           Experience with a second DBMS (especially Oracle or MySQL) is highly desirable

•           BS/BA in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related

•           Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action

•           Genuine desire to provide superior customer service

•           Strong communication and leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to lead and influence technical professionals across the enterprise

•           Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis with a high degree of initiative and sense of urgency

•           Excellent oral and written skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are essential in this role

•           Ability to work on multiple initiatives and projects simultaneously

•           Strong understanding of ITIL service support and service delivery

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

•           Build, Maintain and support databases/instances required by application, vendor and design teams

•           Provide daily development support to application teams including database connectivity, configuration (index creation, database layout, schema changes) and Data migration

•           Provide performance monitoring during all phases of the Application's development lifecycle

•           Responsible for trouble shooting Database issues including collecting information through traces and other logging facilities

•           Provide database and SQL Tuning expertise through recommendation to application developers, vendors and other core Application teams

•           Provide Database configuration for optimal performance including Database Partitioning

•           Provide complete and thorough documentation and run books to production DBAs (Run Team)

•           Develop database backup and recovery strategies for the application

 

Recommended Certifications:

MS SQL 2005 Certified
