Job Description:

The AIX Level 3 shall have the following tasks:

· Works with Solution Architects in understanding existing
application architecture including the underlying business requirements.
· Needs to have the ability to break down technical components that
make up the application. These include but not limited to data flow,
dependency, zones, firewall, data power, load balancer, etc.
· Needs to have the ability to identify the NGDC counterparts to
these components and determine if the existing requirements can be
satisfied with them, or alternative is needed.
· Based on prior AIX experience, recommends best practice AIX
implementation plan with adherence to standards set by AIGGS engineering
organization.
· Works with IBM and other AIGGS organizations to size Power7
server resource requirements as compared to existing environment.
· Ability to go beyond the MW and DB teams in high level
conversation with the app team regarding how their code works and is
expecting from MW/DB and OS.
· Determines if additional OS bolt-on technologies such as PowerHA
and GPFS are required and how NGDC can accommodate.
· Works with engineering and build team to ensure standard
adherence and oversee all post OS software functionalities during
migrations.
· Participates in selected recoding tests when app teams are
required to recode their applications as part of Solaris to AIX migration.

A Ten track record as employee or professional services administrating
AIX in a large/complex environment with understanding of other Unix
implementations (eg, Solaris).

· A proven consulting like role in an end-user organization or OEM. This
is most critical.

· Must have enterprise wide AIX product specific skills in
virtualization, high availability, disaster recovery, storage sharing.

· Must understand and have ability to adapt different OS supporting
technologies (VCS, Oracle containers) into AIX on Power7 platform.

· Must be fluent in dealing with a wide variety of middleware and
database products and their derivates (eg, Oracle RAC) in the AIX
operating environment.

· Must be familiar with primary supporting enterprise products in ETL,
LDAP, ESB, Java, MQ, etc.

· Must have working knowledge in related technical areas such as
Networking, Storage, Backup, Security, etc.

· Familiar or ability to acquire general technical knowledge in
BladeLogic, Autosys, Patrol, Remedy, and Centrify.

· Have high level understanding of scope of effort in building out OS,
bolt-on OS, MW, DB, and analytical applications (SAP, AIG built, Pega, etc.)
