Job Title: AIX Admin

Location: Portsmouth, NH

Duration: 6+ Months

Rate: DOE

 

Job Description:

• 5+ years hands-on experience supporting: AIX 5.x, 6.x , RHEL 4.x, 5.x, Solaris 8.x, 9.x (AIX and RHEL a higher priority)

  Prior experience with OS patching of AIX, RHEL, Solaris

 Prior experience configuring and managing LPAR partitions using VIO under AIX 5.3/6.1

• Experience in small to large scale system projects including full development lifecycle and structured trouble shooting analysis skills

• Ability to troubleshoot software / hardware configuration problems

Skills:

The candidate should have strong skills in at least one of each bullet points and knowledge of the others, as well as have a good understanding of Enterprise Architecture methodology.

• Superior problem solving skills

• High work standards and high bandwidth for work.

• Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills

• Strong negotiation / conflict management skills

• Demonstrated ability to use problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis to resolve issues

• Intimate Knowledge of the Unix Operating System and system administration best practices

• Working Knowledge of File system/Volume Management software (AIX, VERITAS , RH LVM)

Qualifications:

• Ideally a degree in a Computer science discipline or equivalent work experience

• Knowledge of these Unix Operating Systems: AIX 5.x, 6.x, RHEL 4.x, 5.x, Solaris 8, 9, 10

• AIX, RH and/or VERITAS Certification a plus

• Taking responsibility for getting things done, overcoming obstacles or challenges

• Taking a well-ordered and systematic approach to analyzing problems, organizing work and planning action

• Making sure that work is done correctly and completely, and that there is follow-through

• Demonstrating self-assurance in own ideas, judgments and capabilities

• Anticipating potential problems and acting to minimize the impact they may have on the project

• Providing expert support, analysis and research into exceptionally complex problems

• Assisting with analysis, evaluation and preparation of recommendations for system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts

• Review, improve and approve technical work, to guide others, and to teach.
