Description: POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Analyst is responsible for collecting data and business requirements related to business processes, and Business Process Management (BPM) systems from clients and business partners and communicating those to software developers and data migration/integration specialists. Documentation and communication skills are paramount as is recent experience in working in an Agile development environment. Participation in a team environment is heavily relied upon, as is the ability to work independently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Recent experience of working in an Agile development environment, e.g. Scrum or Kanban
* Ability to create user stories, epics, process flows and scenarios in order to clearly communicate a set of functional requirements
* Proven experience at creating, managing, prioritizing, and grooming a backlog of user stories
* Excellent at conducting workshops with multiple stakeholders from technology, commercial and product teams, and then concisely documenting their outcome
* Meets with project contributors and team(s) regularly to drive completion of deliverables and actions against deadlines.
* Solid understanding of web development environments, sufficient to understand the implications of issues within web-based applications
* Models and maintains business process documentation.
* Provides input and supports the development of business and functional specifications for BPM. Defines use cases and documents to ensure business requirements are adequately reflected in BPM development documents.
* Assists with BPM testing to meet release timelines.
* Performs process assessments.
* Analyzes the business unit's activities and trends and compares analysis against the service standards and best practices. Presents findings and works to identify and implement strategies that will address tactical and strategic goals.
* Gather data and business system requirements via phone, E-mail, and onsite requirements gathering sessions
* Use problem solving skills to resolve business problems for internal and external customers
* Can communicate (verbally and in written format) to all levels of an organization.
* Has a technical background and is able to communicate and help design solutions with software architects and developers.
* Create and manage documentation for projects.
* Organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and projects
* Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* BA/BS degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS, or BCIS
* Minimum 2 years of business systems analysis experience.
* Minimum 3+ years of professional experience of which most is technically oriented.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Must be able to communicate analytical and process information to non-analytical staff
* Documentation of business and data requirements
* Attention to Detail
* Excellent communication (Written and spoken)
* Customer service, and relationship building
* Problem solving skills
* Ability to successfully manage multiple projects/clients, time and resources and prioritize all tasks efficiently.
* Experience with project management
* Familiar with multiple development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc…)
DESIRED SKILLS:
* Previous experience in a technical role such as development or QA role
* Experienced in use of Jira/Greenhopper
* Regulatory / Risk experience in Financial Services or Insurance industries
