Looking for a local SQL DBA that could start as soon as Monday. They must be available to interview in person potentially tomorrow and we would prefer if their last project was here in Chicago.
The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for providing support for the database infrastructure. This includes overseeing the performance of jobs, stored procedures, maintaining and enhancing data replication, designing new database systems, defining architecture strategy and mentoring junior database administrators. Keeps an ongoing assessment of database health and maintains a reliable high performing database.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Oversee development and organization of database servers
· Training of database developers on best practices for maintaining database health
· Monitors and enhances data replication strategy to provide maximum update and fast data updates
· Continually analyzes and improves the performance of technology systems, solutions, and processes.
· Leverages experience in order to make direct contributions and guide others' contributions in the requirements, design, and implementation of technology solutions.
· Maintains and enhances security policy to adhere to company standards.
· Assist and support company disaster recovery standards
· Participates in on call support (24x7 rotations).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
· Strong data analysis and data quality assessment skills.
· Versed in techniques to maximize database schema re-use and extensibility.
· Experience operating in a high-volume, high-traffic, 24/7/365 environment.
· Experience in creating and interpreting Data Models.
· Extensive knowledge of SQL database management and database design.
· Strong sense of providing value and contribution to an organization.
· Good communication and presentation skills, ability to communicate across technology organization and other business units.
Computer & Software Experience
· In depth knowledge of Microsft SQL Server 2008.
· In depth knowledge of standard SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning concepts.
· 7+ years SQL Server DBA experience
