Build & Release Application Deployment Engineer with TFS
Work Location : Wilton, CT
Duration : 6-12 Months+ Contract
Rate : Market

Note : Look for candidates who have good scripting skills in Windows and Unix (ie, Perl, PowerShell, VBScript, BASH, ksh, etc) along with TFS experience

Responsibilities

•             Support the release and change processes for 200+ applications running within multiple Windows and Unix environments. Learn the architecture, design,
                deployment procedures, and run-time configuration requirements of production applications. Collaborate with multiple Development teams to manage
                application upgrades in development, test, and production environments. Coordinate emergency release
                procedures and application roll-backs when necessary.

•             Manage the release and change process to be compliant with Agile-based policies and standards. Advise Development teams on working within corporate
                guidelines and regulatory mandates. Conduct orientation and training sessions with new Developers to explain policies and associated release/change procedures.

•             Work with Development groups to automate build, testing, and deployment processes. Develop a process to support frequent, rapid, and streamlined releases into
                several QA and UAT environments. Administer source code control systems. Advise Developers on the proper use of build and release system tools.

•             Work with Infrastructure teams (Systems, Network, and Storage Administrators) to maintain development, test, and production environments to be consistent with
                application run-time / deployment requirements.

•             Produce reports and statistics that allow for the analysis of change and release processes to become streamlined and more efficient.

•             Participate in a 24x7 Production Support OnCall schedule. Participate in DR exercises.

 

Requirements

•             5+ years' experience working with Agile Development groups to support production applications. Working knowledge of the Extreme Programming and Scrum
                methodologies.

•             Prior experience automating the release and configuration of Microsoft Windows (including C# / .Net) and Java-based application systems. Must have the ability to
               quickly learn new scripting technologies and techniques for automating development processes. Must have hands-on experience in several scripting languages
                such as: Perl, PowerShell, VBScript/WSH, Python, N/Ant, and Unix Shell.

•             Hands-on working knowledge in several of the following tools: Microsoft Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio, Eclipse, the StarTeam/CVS/PVCS/Subversion
               source code control systems, make, N/Ant, and Maven. Experience configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

•             Experience coordinating the build, release, and deployment process for schema changes to relational database systems (including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or
               Sybase).

•             A BA/BS college degree in Computer Science and/or other technology related academic topics.

 

Other Related Experience / Certifications

•             Application Build and Configuration Developer/Engineer.

•             Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) Administrator/Developer.

•             Extreme Programming and/or Scrum development methodologies.

•             Microsoft Windows Systems Administrator.

•             Linux/Solaris/Unix Systems Administrator.
