Position: Security Engineer
Location: Downtown Chicago

Duration: 6+ months

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of security controls and ensuring adherence to bank policies. 

•Research latest trends in security and suggest improvements to bank’s environment.

•Maintain firewalls, spam filters, and anti-virus software.

•Utilize Active Directory to provision user access in a least privilege manner and manage system configurations.

•Track and complete security-related issues via trouble ticket system.

•Collaborate with different areas of IT in order to provide security solutions for the bank.

•Generate reports to track technical environment settings and events.

•Create high level reports on technical security risk assessment and network diagrams.

•Provide timely reports on the status of projects as well as any unforeseen issues to management and to business units.

•Complete high level documentation of security policies and procedures.

 

Experience Requirements:

•2-4 years of security application support experience.

•4-6 years of experience necessary without a degree.

 

Education Requirements:

•4 year college degree in information technology or equivalent experience.

•Security certification is highly preferred (CISSP, SANS GSEC, etc.)

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Behaviors required:

•Must have good communication (verbal, written, and listening) skills.

•Advanced knowledge of IT security controls.

•Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and 3 routing and switching protocols (TCP/UDP & IPv4)

•Advanced knowledge of encryption and authentication technologies

•Will require the ability to be a self-starter and to work independently as well as in a team setting.

•A high level of integrity and dependability are necessary to perform this role.
