Developing ETL Packages, Developing Data Transformation Routines

Transact SQL

Functions, Stored Procedures, Packages

Pivoting Data: CASE & PIVOT syntax

Dynamic SQL

Indexed Views

Query Optimization: Indexes

Query Optimization: Explain Plans

Query Optimization: Profiling

Data Modeling: Primary & Foreign Keys

Data Modeling: Table Constraints

Transactions: Commit, Rollback, Error Handling

 

SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) – Highly Proficient

Load data from flat files into SQL Server

Load XML file data into SQL Server

Move data between a RDBMS (Oracle, Progress, DB2, etc.) and SQL Server

Map and move data between 2 instances of SQL Server

Simple transformations such as field mapping, string manipulation, date/time conversions

Normal transformations such as conditional logic, joins, aggregations, and de-duplications

Complex transformations such as multi-step business rules, complex multi-joins, multi-level aggregations

Use of parameters and parameter driven packages

Producing sufficient log information when a failure occurs

 

SSRS (SQL Server reporting Services) – Proficient

Leverage SSRS to extract business intelligence from data

Integrate parameters, filters and interactive components into reports

Producing customized reports with expressions

Deploy reports to the Report Server

Configure and test security on report items
