Job Title: Sybase DBA II

Location:  Columbia SC or Troy, AL

Hourly rate: 45-50/hr All Inclusive

Longevity: 6 months+

Travel: None

Openings: 1

Start: ASAP

 

Required qualifications:

 

• Strong ability to analyze and provide recommendation for performance tuning.

• 3+ years of Sybase DBA experience including building objects and maintaining production environments.

• Strong Performance and Tuning, troubleshooting skills. Proficient with MDA tables, Optdiag, SP Sysmon, and SP Monitor.

• 3+ years of experience in Relational database concepts, relational logical modeling, best practices, and physical design.

• 2+ years of experience in Object concepts, object modeling, and translation of object model to relational design.

• 3+ Years of experience in database server maintenance, backup & restore, upgrading, and patching.

• Experience with Sybase Replication Server

• SQL Server 2005 and/or 2008 DBA experience required

• 2+ years of Unix operating system experience including shell scripting and file management.

• 2+ years of using modeling tool, preferable ER/Studio

• 4+ years of experience in the IT industry, including full life cycle methodology, standard office products such as Word and Excel, and some application development.

• B.S. in Computer Science or related degree.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

• Familiarity or experience with Oracle database administration.

• Familiarity or experience with java and related technologies.

• Sybase certifications preferred

• SQL Server certifications preferred

• Ability to adapt to changing environment and requirements and manage multiple tasks

• Good project management, oral and written communication, negotiation, presentation and influencing skills
