Unix-Linux Admin Role

Duration – 3-6 months+

Location: Position can be located in New York, NY, or Hightstown NJ.

Process: Telephone and then F2F.

 

Position Summary
Responsible for helping on remediation tasks related to Tier 2 operational support activities of Unix-Linux servers.


Technical Skills

A minimum of  5 – 7 years of server administration experience.

Primary experience required:

o    Sun Solaris 8,9,10 (advanced experience required; majority of environment)

o    Red Hat Operating Systems 4 & 5 (advanced experience required; majority of environment)

o    HP-UX (intermediate experience required; only 5% of environment)

o    Open VMS (intermediate experience required; only 5% of environment)

o    Storage technologies (EMC, Volume Manager, Disk Suite, LVM, NFS)

o    HP/Dell server technologies

o    High Availability Clustering Technologies including Veritas Clustering Services

o    Server Virtualization Technologies across Linux, and Solaris Operating Systems

o    Remote Server Management Technologies

o    High Availability Solutions including Replication, Load Balancing, Disaster Recovery Tools

o    Advanced ability to troubleshoot Unix and TCP/IP networking.

Experience in the following desired but not required:

o    Scripting

o    EMC SAN Storage

o    Oracle RAC

o    Remedy

o    Understanding of ITIL concepts

o    Experience working with offshore team members


Other Required Skills

Able to recommend best-practices that enhance end-user experience and promote both system efficiency and maintainability

Work collaboratively with team members.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills to resolve complex issues

Ability to work independently and as part of a team-oriented, collaborative environment with offshore teammates.

Excellent customer support skills & experience

Ability to effectively interface with technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to produce quality technical documentation.

Must be detailed-oriented, well organized, able to prioritize conflicting priorities, and take ownership of tasks until complete.

Participate in on-call support as required

Experience directly interfacing with 3rd party support vendors
