JOB DESCRIPTION
The Search Engine Developer utilizes significant experience in algorithm design, math and analytical problem solving to create elegant solutions to complex search engine problems. The developer uses very strong core Java skills to implement those solutions. The developer sets a very high standard of code quality and execution.
Must be passionate about information retrieval and low-level algorithm design and development. And, have an expert understanding of object oriented design, polymorphism, inheritance, and programming through contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Extensive experience in creating elegant solutions to complex problems by applying analytical insight and core computer science concepts.
• Extensive experience in algorithm design.
• Ability to evaluate the runtime of an algorithm (Big O), and implement a solution to meet performance and scale.
• Extensive experience (at least 5 years) using core Java.
• Experience using Search Engine technologies especially SOLR/Lucene.
• Experience with Spring and REST.
• Must have practical experience in performance tuning and testing a system (millions of transactions per day).
• Extensive experience with the practical application of design patterns (singleton, factory, MVC, etc.).
• Excellent communication: must be a good listener and be able to clearly communicate ideas.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with engineering management to identify technical requirements.
• Utilize core Java and open source technologies including SOLR/Lucene, Apache Jakarta components, Hadoop/HDFS, and Zookeeper to implement search features.
• Create top-class code with full unit test coverage.
• Collaborate closely with QA to create robust test plans to measure quality and performance of the search engine.
• Create technical documentation accompanying each release.
• Assists in tracking and evaluating metrics: deliver software on time, to specification, and within budget
** We will consider Developers who have TB Data experience- using: stations, video, media, data modeling, etc. If no experience in the media field, can be in travel and medical field as well. Would like the following experiences: metadata, Database like ETL and Mongo DB.
