· Experience with full lifecycle activities with SAP Data Services (also called Data Integrator) – ETL design, data modeling and scheduling jobs

· Designed and developed Data Services jobs to load data into dimension tables and implemented Slowly Changing Dimensions

· Worked with transformations like Query, History Preserving, Table Compare, Map Operation, Map_CDC_Operation

· Understand the concept of pushdown SQL for performance

· Used Lookup function to populate fields from other tables

· Implemented initial (Full) and delta (Incremental) load for Fact tables

· Fully understand CDC (Change Data Capture) used in Data Services and native to RDBMS platform

· Tested the data for correctness using SQL queries

· Created complex SQL queries and optimized the performance of the queries

· Created new indexes on tables to optimize job performance and designed the job accordingly

· Used the Data Services interactive debugger to troubleshoot errors and monitor the data at various points in a job

· Documented the projects using Auto-Documentation Feature

  • Knows Scripts and Data flows can show up in Workflow ?
  • What are Conditionals and While Loops in Work flows?
  • Transforms in a DataFlow: ?
  • Explain Map Operation Transform: ?no idea
  • How to used Data Transfer Transform to improve performance by leveraging pushdown SQL -exp
  • Should know the concept of pushdown SQL (database engine executing vs job server doing the heavy lifting)
  • How to use Display Optimized SQL
  • Should be able to Explain all types of slowly changing dimensions ?
  • Should Know Query/Table Comparison/History Preserving/Key Generation transforms for Type-2 SCD...
  • Explain lookup functions (Lookup, Lookup_Seq, Lookup_Ext) and should know using JOIN as an alternative
  • Should have worked on  SQL Transform currently
  • Knows Target Tables are physical...couldn't really explain Template Tables
  • Understands Try/Catch concept and explained how to raise exceptions and send emails.
  • Should be good in Performance Tuning and should not  struggle in explaining different techniques (number of rows to fetch, pushdown SQL)
  • Should know Target Based Change Data Capture
  • Should know Source Based or features within Data Services
  • Should Know how to create documentation, schedule jobs, review log files, and assign rights within Management Console
