Electrical Engineer

Framingham, MA

6-12 Months Contract

 

We are in search of an Electrical Engineer to join our Continuing Engineering group. Be a part of a team of Electrical and Acoustical Engineers responsible for sustaining all aspects of electronic design of our products, from start of sales through the entire life of our products. Candidate must have strong and diverse skills in electronic circuits used in consumer electronics (examples, Switch-Mode power supplies (SMPS), audio electronics, HDMI, embedded processors, high-speed digital electronics, EMI, Bluetooth and WiFi radios).

 

Your specific role will be to help us find, qualify and implement substitute components, where component shortages are effecting our ability to build our products. The most critical shortage is MLCC capacitors, but the role will also include various semiconductor and magnetic components to a lesser degree. This effects a wide variety of products including Home Theatre systems, WiFi and/or Bluetooth-connected audio systems with VPA, Personal Portable Speakers, Wireless Headsets, and Wellness products, such as products that help our customers with hearing and sleep.

 

Responsibilities:

Understand how electrical characteristics of MLCC components (e.g. DC bias) can effect various circuit applications (SMPS, high frequency circuits, IC bypass etc.).

Similar to above with (less frequent need) for various semiconductor components (e.g. MOSFET's) and magnetic devices (e.g. chokes and SMPS transformers)

Work with our Component Reliability Engineers to find alternate components. Component Engineers will focus on the parts. You will focus on suitability of substitutes in the application of the parts in our circuits.

Understand EMC (Electromagnetic Compliance) implications of component substitutions, and work with our EMC colleagues to perform regulatory testing as needed.

Work with the other Engineers and Program Managers in our group, as well as other groups within Client to implement acceptable candidates.

 

Skills Required

Expertise in use of lab equipment (e.g. Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers)

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Able to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment

understanding of change management (e.g. Engineering Change Notices)

Knowledge of BOM structures (Bill of Materials)

Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
