Job Summary/Purpose:

An exciting opportunity to be part of the largest non-profit provider in the US, specifically on an IT team responsible for implementing cutting-edge cloud and container strategies.

Projects this role will be supporting:
System Engineer II resource is required to support the CSH Phoenix on-prem Enterprise Application Platform (EAP), which is a shared services platform hosting 49 clinical and business applications, as well as the primary SCM and CI/CD systems.
Will also be involved in supporting our Azure public cloud environment, and for engineering and implementing a transition from Tomcat to Container-based environment for the EAP.

J2EE (Tomcat or Websphere) and .Net platform administration

Position Description:
The System Engineer II responsibility is divided between operational maintenance and support of existing environments and request/project tasks. This includes operational support activities such as resolving software and hardware-related problems, administering application middleware and technology layers, conducting release management, and performing continuous integration. It also includes evaluation and implementation activities for new products, technologies, and solutions to address corporate business requirements. Project assignments can range from small to mid-size in scope with moderate complexity.

System Engineer II works closely with Application/Web Developers, Infrastructure, and Application Support Teams to ensure seamless and quality IT support for Dignity Health customers and alignment with Dignity's IT standards, controls, and governance.

Responsibilities:
• Perform daily production support activities.
• Participate in team on-call support rotation.
Manage source code repositories, code versioning, code deployments, and solution builds across multiple Windows and Linux environments.
• Participate in the enhancement, upgrade/patching, and implementation of new and existing software solutions.
• Own and resolve technical issues on platforms supported by the System Administration team
• Provide facilitation of the change management process as it applies platforms supported by the System Administration team.
• Participate in strategic planning activities (capacity planning, process improvement, maintenance, upgrade, and end-of-life planning, roadmap development)
• Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Manage a comprehensive multi-tool monitoring and event management solution across multiple Windows and Linux platforms
• Manage Docker/Kubernetes container-based platforms
• Continuously improve operational processes through automation using orchestration and scripting tools
• Perform technical mentoring and cross-training with other team members

Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience with Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems
• Minimum of 5 years experience with Microsoft IIS or Apache Web Servers
• Minimum of 2 years experience with J2EE or .Net platforms (strong preference for Tomcat or WebSphere background)
• Experience with Web Portals and Web Content Management platforms
• Experience with virtual infrastructure platforms such as VMWare
• Experience with LDAP platforms and SSO technologies (Active Directory, ADFS, NetIQ Identity Manager)
• Experience with Microsoft networking, security, and messaging components

Qualifications:
• BA or BS in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and certifications
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an IT technical or infrastructure field

Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience with web appliances (Load Balancing, Content Switching, Cacheing appliances such as BigIP F5, Cisco NetScaler, etc.)
• Experience with private cloud management tools or software-defined infrastructure solutions such as the vRealize Suite or OpenStack
• Scripting experience (ANT, VBScript, PowerShell, Perl, Unix Shell, etc.)
• Experience with testing/Quality Assurance methodologies
• Operational experience with storage networks and technologies (EMC, NetApp)
• Ability to develop and organize written documentation and procedure
