Duration: 12 months
Interview: Selected candidates will be asked to participate in preliminary tele screens, followed by in-person interviews.
Skills:
1. Candidate should have 95% of skills and have excellent communication skills.
2. Produce map products and map data.
3. Perform complex GIS analysis using various data sources.
4. Data capturing, converting and editing.
5. Ensure that metadata is compliant with FGDC standards for all city map layers.
6. Complex GIS analyses with a variety of data formats, Shape Files, Personal Geodatabases, Third Party data sources (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, etc.), images.
7. Work as part of the GIS team to develop distributed products via web-based technology and desktop software.
8. Data management: Maintain the GIS database portal and distribute data to city departments.
9. Software/hardware installation and updates.
10. Work with stakeholders of various City Divisions on data creation, maintenance, distribution and mapping projects.
11. Prepares presentation maps for meetings, conferences and other public viewing.
12. Maintains awareness of current advances in technology as it relates to GIS and provide pertinent information to the GIS team.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
1. Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or other related field.
2. 2-3 years professional working experience in GIS techniques and methodologies
3. Expertise in ESRI software
4. Experience in utilizing Geographic Position System (GPS) technology, coordinate systems to develop spatial models and maps
5. Windows Operating Systems environment experience
6. Knowledge of industry standard data models for municipal government agencies
PREFERED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience working with municipal, county, state and national land map data and attribute information
2. Working knowledge of GIS Database administration (SDE, ArcGIS Server)
3. Experience in GIS application development utilizing (VB, .NET, ArcGIS Server)
