Role:

C# / VB6 Developer – 6+ month contract located near DFW Airport

 

All candidates MUST take online technical test in both C# and VB6

Skills:

Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related degree including relevant work experience.

3-5 years of application design, development and maintenance.  This should include Microsoft .Net and VB with strong SQL Server experience.

Must have aggressive attitude and be eager to continue growing and learning. 

Must be willing to do some maintenance on older technologies

Must have some of the intangible leadership type qualities and desire

Knowledge of XML / XSL

Knowledge of Microsoft .Net technologies

Knowledge of Microsoft TCP/IP networks

Educational and implementation experience with current Microsoft desktop/server operating systems.

Good communication skills and a friendly empathetic demeanor

Strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills

Ability to work alone or in a team environment

 

Preferred:

Knowledge of Retail Systems and processes

 

Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for the development and support of client's systems.  The ideal candidate will have retail systems experience as well as experience in Microsoft's latest technologies, including .Net, C#, VB, and SQL.  The individual will participate in all phases of the software implementation process including both package and custom development.  Software development processes will include requirements gathering and analysis, functional design, technical design, coding, testing, implementation, and post implementation support.  Associate will interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either. Most activities are completed without a supervisors advance approval.

 

Duties:

Monitor and support information systems.

Make suggestions to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for information systems.

Research, test, and apply all applicable patches.

Ability to understand and apply basic software implementation methodology concepts

Experience in Microsoft development languages, coupled with a strong emphasis on object-oriented design and implementation

Strong local syntax SQL (Standard Query Language) skills and ability to understand relational data models.

Perform on call duties on rotation with other developers.

Once essential duties and responsibilities have been clearly defined, will align them to the 3-4 competencies most closely associated with this role.

Able to use and operate a computer.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to work extended hours to fulfill the requirements of the position.

Able to manage time effectively to meet all expectations of the position.

Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and complete tasks independently. 

Must be willing to wear a pager and be on call on a rotating basis and must be willing to grow and move into new technologies. 

Will be a major contributor to redesigning and reengineering of applications.
