DETAILS

 

Oracle DBA - Delivery Team

Responsibilities:

 

                Maintains the organization's Oracle databases across multiple platforms and computing environments.  Monitors database space usage and performance. 

                Manages database utilities and monitors the relationships between the database users and applications.  Maintains database support tools, database tables and dictionaries, recovery and backup procedures.

                Applies understanding of relational database concepts and query languages in order to design required summary or aggregation tables to support analysis.

                Coordinates with technology/infrastructure staff to identify data relationships for functional requirements and analyze/resolves issues related to information flow and content.

                Understands existing data architecture standards and conventions and contributes to the development and enforcement of best practices for database use.

                Performs data modeling studies and develops detailed data models.  Maintains data model and entity relationship diagrams.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

Overview-

An ideal candidate would be skilled in development of applications utilizing Oracle tools including PL/SQL, SQL Plus and experience with PL/SQL back-end programming – Database Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Records, Collections, VARRAYS and Management of Schema Objects.

- Thorough understanding of ER modeling and relational database architecture, from logical and physical design, with proficiency in data definition and data manipulation languages and coding using ERSTUDIO.

- Familiar with Data Dictionary views (V$ views, DBA_xx views etc.,) to look for open cursors, connection leak and statements with number of executions for performance.

- Familiar with StatsPack to diagnose instance wide performance problems and also to support application tuning by identifying High load SQL Statements.

- Experience with Export/import Oracle data for backups and migration using SQL*loader.

- Optimize the performance by using the performance enhancing tools like Explain Plan, SQLTrace, types of optimizer hints, Tkprof, Indexes, Table Partitions and Sub-Partitions and best practices in SQL and PL/SQL.

- Experience in Shell and Perl Scripting for database maintenance script, Adhoc reports and reporting scripts to run as cron job.

- Scheduling and managing cron jobs in production to run production batch and reporting scripts.

- Design, develop and Maintain tools and scripts to help Unit testing, development and QA to generate data or generate reports.

- Thoroughly skilled in preparing development strategies, program specifications, test plans, test data, coordinating with QA / PRODUCTION and customer support groups.

DESCRIPTION:

 

Looking for an experienced Oracle developer with very strong and current PL/SQL coding skills. 

Candidates with strong skills in query tuning and Unix scripting will receive preference. 

Skills in analysis and writing technical specification are also a big plus.

 

We support a Global application and we are in the early stages of a project to rewrite the system.   Our requirements are constantly changing and growing due to our expansion internationally.  We are looking for skilled individuals to help us meet these growing demands and move forward with our products worldwide.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

•         Performs moderately complex development tasks following prescribed system development life cycle.

•         Duties will include analysis, design, technical specification writing, Oracle PL/SQL coding, UNIX scripting, testing, tuning.

•         Works with Lead Developers, Data Analysts, DBA's, and end-users in the specification, design, and construction, testing, and implementation of publishing system.

•         Researches and understands the business and technical requirements for a publishing process / system, including target environment and performance criteria; suggests technical approaches to management on projects.

•         Assists in project planning and scheduling.

•         Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

•         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred with 6+ years of experience in software design, development and maintenance.

•         Proven technical knowledge in software development and testing methodologies.

•         Primary emphasis will be Oracle PL/SQL, UNIX scripting, tuning, and testing.  Require four or more years extensive experience in Oracle database and PL/SQL including Stored Procedures, Functions, and Triggers.  Background in Oracle query tuning is a preferred. Strong background in UNIX scripting is preferred.

•         Must possess strong unit, integration and system testing skills.

•         Secondary emphasis will be analysis, design and technical specification writing.  Strong analytical and design skills preferred.

•         Ability to work independently from technical specifications is required.

•         Background in Data modeling is a plus.

•         Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in working with other developers and users.

•         Excellent problem solving and consultative skills.

•         Must be a team player with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, initiative, sense of urgency, and be self-motivated.

•         Ability to work overtime and provide off-hours support as required
