I have an immediate need with my DIRECT CLIENT for a Sybase DBA role in New Jersey or Connecticut. Please do have a look at the requirement details below and send me across your candidate's profiles ASAP....

 

Job Description:

 

 

Minimum 7-10 years of experience as Sybase DBA; Experience in BFSI preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities Include:

As a Sybase database administrator.

• Provide day-today DB support and will interact with customers on a daily basis.
• Provide on-call coverage once up to speed on the environment.
• Primary objective will be to support the Sybase environment within the Prime Services area.
• Expected to provide secondary Sybase support for the Cash EQ's area.
• Support of major initiatives such as isolation tests, power downs and infrastructure weekends will also be expected.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Sybase 12.5 and above
• Basic understanding of replication
• Good knowledge of database creation, log segments, disk initialization, disk mirroring, taking backups of databases and restoring in case of failure. Maintaining physical and logical devices
• Knowledge of DBCC configuration and maintenance
• Knowledge of replication server environments
• MS SQL Server 2000 and above
• Manage database maintenance jobs (scheduled tasks)
• Strong SQL; Understanding of Perl, Shell scripts
• Knowledge of Solaris, Linux
• Strong UNIX understanding and command line skills
• Self-starter with ability to acquire new skills autonomously
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in English language
• Excellent technical knowledge gained from a hands-on role within a global organization
• Skills must be current and include a minimum of 2 years of experience with Sybase with replication in a mission critical environment
• Degree level education or equivalent expertise

 

DESIRED SKILLS

• Exposure to Java
• Veritas â€" Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster, Veritas FS, QuickIO â€" version 3.x & 4
• Operating system installations via JumpStart/Kick Start and Red Hat network
• EMC CX-320, NAS, and SAN storage solutions
• VMware experience
• Experience with SSH and its configuration
• Sybase certifications
• ITIL knowledge"
