ORACLE DBA
Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Systems, the Oracle Database Administrator will be part of a team sharing Oracle Database Administration duties. The candidate will be responsible for centralized database support for multiple databases including logical/physical design, normalization, security, backup/recovery, performance, and data integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Adhere to database best practices regarding normalization, usage of data types, and naming conventions.
Work with internal and external business partners to ensure database integrity, security, and availability.
Implement and support database design methodology, guidelines and procedures.
Participate in the development and maintenance of IT policies, standards, and procedures - where they pertain to naming conventions, data modeling processes, or data retention.
Tuning of SQL code and assisting developers in writing and tuning SQL queries.
Database monitoring and scripting to automate routine tasks.
Perform database space management and capacity planning.
Support the database service requests (database objects changes or deployments across various environments) from application teams.
Perform backup and recovery of Oracle database using RMAN, Standby Database, Data pump and import/export
Troubleshoot database production incidents and/or problems.
Clone and refresh Oracle databases with production data.
Research and test Oracle patches/upgrade.
Participate in 24x7 on call rotation
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES
3 or more years of production Oracle 9i/10g/11g DBA experience on UNIX or Linux.
Oracle 10g and Oracle Replication experience.
Experience working with high volume databases with data partitioning, performance, and tuning.
Experienced with high-availability Oracle solutions including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Hot Standby.
Strong understanding of Oracle backup and recovery tools (RMAN) and the ability to restore and refresh databases in a timely manner.
Solid organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to work in a team environment with the understanding of change management and quality controls.
Energetic and self motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and hosting teams.
