Senior Java Developer
We have a direct client on Long Island, NY (Suffolk County) with a requirement for a Senior Java consultant with minimum of 7 yrs experience for a 6 to 9 month assignment to start ASAP. There is a possibility it could extend beyond that-this client has a history of extending consultants for a year or more if the consultant is very productive since they have a lot of work to get done. The functional specs are already done so the responsibilities are development of technical specs and software application development as well as providing guidance to the Q/A team. Client will do a qualifying phone interview and will then do an in-person interview before making a final decision. If the candidate has financial services experience it's a plus-NOT a must have.
Must Haves-Java 1.4-1.6, Oracle Stored Procedures, Oracle PL/SQL, EJB, STRUTS, WebSphere Application Server 5.0/7.0 and Apache ANT Unix Shell Scripting

Application Description- ProxyEdge is the internet application that allows achieving compliance with SEC regulations and streamlining voting. It also allows managing, tracking, reconciling and reporting Proxy Voting through electronic delivery of ballots, online voting, SEC compliant reporting and record keeping. The application has support for multiple languages and currently displays the screens in Japanese, German and English. The application's front-end is developed using JSPs. The backend is mostly stateless EJBs for processing and Oracle Stored Procedures with DAOs and its API to access the Oracle Database. Apache Struts and Tiles are used for delegating the requests to appropriate JSPs and reusing common headers. Apache Log4J is used for tracing and logging. JavaScript is used in JSP pages for client side validation. ServiceLocator is developed for JNDI lookup of EJBs and TopLink sessions. Version Control is handled by Microsoft Visual SourceSafe and Perforce. Application development is performed using RAD. The Production/QA version is built, packaged, and deployed using Apache Ant and CruiseControl.

* Reviews and refines usability testing scenarios, and administers portions of the testing process
* Creates test transactions and runs component, assembly, and
system tests for conformance to standards and adherence to design specifications
* Prepares the test environment
* Analyzes results of testing sessions and presents results
* Works with users to review test results to ensure they meet expected results
* Conforms to quality assurance test standards
Documentation
* Reviews documentation for the user describing the installation, use, and customization of products and services as necessary
* Uses product design specifications to direct development of useful documentation, help functions, and features
Minimum Qualifications:
* Possesses detailed knowledge of the software implementation lifecycle (SDLC)
* Possesses basic knowledge of Client applications and their development throughout all phases of the lifecycle
* Demonstrates strong analytical and communication skills
* Degree in a technical discipline or related experience preferred
* Minimum of 6 years experience in application development and system analysis
