Position: Oracle DBA/Designer

Duration: 6+ Months

Location: Baltimore, MD

 

Job Description:

The Oracle Administrator will lead or assist in the development, configuration, and ongoing operations & maintenance of multiple Oracle database environments. The candidate will leverage years of experience to tune the Oracle databases and make recommendations in the area of database management and performance. The candidate will support internal database users, such as the development and testing teams by providing consulting support on all aspects of the Oracle infrastructure including participating in peer reviews and walkthroughs.

The Oracle Administrator will also be expected to collaborate with the design team to analyze and understand Business/Functional requirements in order to design, model, develop, validate, and implement logical and physical data models including both relational and dimensional models in a data warehousing environment.

Required:

Demonstrated Oracle 11g Database Administration experience in a Unix Environment

Experience tuning Oracle 11G  databases and queries
Experience providing Database Administration of an Oracle Data warehouse

Solid understanding of Data warehousing principles and methodology, including design, dimensional data models, data dictionaries and metadata.

Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear concise fashion, both verbally and in writing.
Work cooperatively with internal team members, external project stakeholders, infrastructure architects and system administrators. Develop and maintain database and design documentation.

Understand the logical and conceptual relationship of data and the needs of a complex application.
Develop innovative, efficient database solutions to complex business problems.

 

Desired: 

Familiarity with Informatica or other ETL tools

Familiarity with the MicroStrategy BI tool

Experience with very large databases in a Business Intelligence environment.
Strong Hands-on experience using data modeling tools, preferably ER/Win

At least 5 years of experience as a database administrator in an Oracle environment with at least one year using Oracle 11g. 5 years of experience in data modeling and design
