Position: Linux Engineer

Location: NJ

Duration: 6+ Months

 

Max Rate : $50/hr on C2C

Senior Linux Engineer         

 

Responsibilities

• Work in a demanding, fast-paced atmosphere.
• Support Opera Linux infrastructure.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
• Plan & implement projects, upgrades, fixes to entire system environment.
• Tune and optimize server performance through hardware and software changes.
• Help build and manage Opera private and public cloud environments.

 

Requirements

• Team player, ability to mentor other junior team members, leadership qualities.
• Proven experience in driving end-to-end architectures combining most of the disciplines above and
• working and leading with cross functional team in design, implementation, launch and one or
• two revisions of an enterprise-class solution.
• 5-7 years of demonstrated proficiency in Linux administration.
• Experience with AWS, Hadoop, Virtualization and Linux Cluster.
• Excellent command line skill set.
• Experience managing and monitoring system configurations with OCS inventory, Ganglia, Open  
• NMS, PHP LDAP Admin and Munin a plus.
• Familiar with automated systems provisioning.
• Master's Degree in CS or Engineering (or related experience).
• Familiar with HTTP, DNS, database, and system monitoring services.
• Programming/scripting (bash, Perl, python, ruby).
• Strong Linux problem solving skills.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
• Clear communication and documentation of procedures and projects.
• Prior project and team management experience.
