Complete Description:
Systems Engineer-(UNIX/Windows)
- Implements, configures and provides general Tier 1 & 2 support for our service request process for solving technical problems and information technology issues involving applications and their supporting hardware on the UNIX and Windows platforms.
- Activates hardware and software packages into the production Enterprise computing environment. Configures and tests production level computing systems and installs incremental changes, patches and upgrades to all Enterprise computing systems.
- Handles general administrative duties with Active Directory and LDAP and SSL Certificate technologies.
- Assist users with problems and/or questions relating to environment and/or Production processes. Understands and utilizes operating systems, system utilities, and 3rd party software to help users resolve issues.
- Functions as duty on-call or backup for other staff members to provide level 1 & 2 support.
- Works on moderately complex assignments were judgment is required in resolving and making routine recommendations.
- Follows defined processes for work flow where recognizing deviation from accepted practice is required.
- Technical documentation including configurations/maintenance, test plans, procedures and process documentation.
- 3 to 5 years minimum previous customer support and escalation experience
- Proficient in Windows Systems in an administrative role. Must have experience with Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008.
- Proficient in UNIX/Linux Administration. - 3 to 5 years minimum experience managing multiple tasks with high level of customer satisfaction.
- 3 to 5 years minimum systems administration, infrastructure, and troubleshooting skills experience.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with scripting tools to reduce complexity and automate process to increase group productivity.
- Experience in analyzing complex problems, identifying resolution path in a fast paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Active Directory and LDAP technologies
- Strong understanding of SSL secured websites and the administration of SSL Certificates.
- Experience and understanding of printing over an Enterprise environment. Setting up and configuring printer queues.
- Understanding of TCP/IP network technology.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus, Associates degree required or technical equivalent
