Network Systems Engineer

Duration : 6 month

Location:  Herndon, VA.

 

The Network Engineer is responsible for providing administrative support of multiple geographically separated network environments.  These environments include Cisco and F5 load balancers, routers, catalyst switches, firewalls, and circuitry (MPLS).  Experience with web filtering, wireless access, VPN, SSL, vulnerability scanning, IronPort, and Avaya / Mitel gateways and telephones is highly desirable.  The network engineering team provides services for many customers internal and external to the client.

 

Required skills:

*  VPN/IPSEC

*  Routing& Switching

*  Firewalls

*  IPS

*  Load Balancing (F5)

*  VOIP

*  DNS

*  Riverbed (WAN acceleration)

 

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

*  Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field(equivalent experience may be substituted)

*  CCNP certification highly desirable.

*  Extensive knowledge of IP addressing.

*  Working knowledge of spanning tree, BGP, OSPF, HRSP, VRRP, IronPort web filtering, and Cisco ASA-55XX firewall.

*  Familiarity with ACS 5.x, SolarWinds, OPNET, Linus, SmokePing and IPV6 is beneficial.

*  Ability to utilize software and hardware diagnostic tools to identify, diagnose symptoms, and provide corrective actions to complex issues affecting system performance.

*  Available for after-hour support as needed.

*  Strong verbal and written communication skill set.

*  Team-player.

*  Organized and highly motivated.

 

The client is basically a Cisco shop with the addition of F5, Riverbed, and BT Diamond.
