Position Description:              

 

Resident Storage Engineer

 

 

Skills and Experience Needed:

 

Ø  In-depth knowledge of Fibre Channel Networks

Ø  Possess Strong Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Background

Ø  Windows Server Administration Experience

Ø  Unix/Linux/Solaris Administration Experience

Ø  Skilled in documenting systems and procedures

Ø  Knowledge and Experience with:

v  Brocade SAN switches :

§  Brocade 6140

§  Brocade 4700

§  Brocade 5300

§  Brocade 7500

v  Brocade DCFM

v  IBM Tape Library Technology

§  T3500

§  T3494

v  SAN Volume Controller (SVC)

v  Tivoli Storage Manager  (TSM) Version 6.2

v  Tivoli Storage Productivity Center (TPC) Version 4.2

v  IBM System Storage

§  DS8000

§  DS4800

v  IBM DB2

v  Microsoft Visio

v  Business Continuity Planning/Testing

v  Data Mirroring

 

Engineer would provide:

Ø  Troubleshooting and problem resolution for the fibre channel network.

Ø  Improve response times and data transfer rates

Ø  Troubleshooting and resolution of storage issues

Ø  Storage trending/utilization reports

Ø  HBA Driver installs

Ø  Tape Library Driver installs

Ø  Documentation of procedures

Ø  TPC support (installs, upgrades, maintenance, patching, configuration, and troubleshooting/diagnosis/repair).

Ø  Business Continuity Planning and Testing of Plans

Ø  Services to improve operations

Ø  Consulting services

Ø  Configuration services

Ø  Customization services

Ø  Responses to customer inquires

Ø  Responses and resolution to trouble tickets

Ø  Day to Day management of the Tivoli Service Manager System

Ø  Services to update and maintain TSM and the Fibre channel network

Ø  Make recommendations to management for future storage capacity needs

Ø  Research new storage technologies and analysis of alternatives

 

 

Engineer would work approximately forty hours per week (more or less):

Ø  Majority of hours would be during normal business hours (7 AM – 5 PM)

Ø  Requires flexible schedule outside of normal business hours for installations, configuration changes, maintenance, upgrades and similar activities that could potentially interrupt business processes if conducted during prime business hours

Ø  Requires emergency call-in (infrequent) but must be accessible outside of normal business hours (via BWC supplied pager or other portable device such as a cell phone).
