QA Tester - ETL (Recent college grad) needed in the New York office. .

 

Experience:
Some experience or education with mainframe and/or software system data mapping and transformation
Some experience with industry standard testing tools such as MQC and Rational Rose tools.
Insurance industry knowledge will be preferred.
Excellent investigative skills are required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
SQL SkillsThis role will be responsible for participating in QA process and produce QA related deliverables in the Agent Compensation Transformation (ACT) initiative.

 The primary of goal is to replace legacy compensation and Agency/Producer administration platforms by a modern vendor product based solution combined with a centralized agent and transaction data storage, pass through and transformation. The ACT initiative is one of the most complex, high risk, and sizable technology project that the firm has undertaken.  Similar initiatives have been undertaken by our industry peers in recent years with mixed results and at considerable cost which is an indicator of the level of experience and skill that this role requires.This role will work within a challenging and growing environment to execute and test inbound and outbound ETL processes.  The successful candidate must be able to write SQL for data population and the verification of test results.  It will be a requirement to develop knowledge of the company's products, automation tools, Rational Tools Suite and QA processes.  The individual must be an abstract and creative thinker, capable of learning and summarizing complex concepts and issues.

 

The candidate should have a basic understanding of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) with software systems test background acquired through education or possibly internships. The individual should understand basic differences between mainframe and client server based environments.  Experience in mainframe ETL is the most desired. 

Insurance industry background with recent QA experience is a plus, but experience in other financial industries will be considered.
Document test conditions and execute test cases against test plan.

Review the ETL source system files to determine the optimal testing methodology.
Document all defects or exceptions found during testing
Liaison with IT and Business Partners (Subject Matter Experts) to resolve gaps in requirements documentation
Identify opportunities for testing efficiency gains by use of automated test scripts

25% - Understand business requirements and mapping designs and document test conditions and cases.

 

10% - Review and locate applicable test data

40% - Execute test cases

15% - Monitor and perform defect management

10% - Assist with UAT support.

 

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related field; advance degree desirable but not required
