Job Title SQA ENGINEER
Duties Improving the skill set of a Grade A SQA Engineer; plus: Functions as an internal consultant to QA project leads. Ability to work with a QA project lead to help solve customer issues. Ability to give presentations of work at QA meetings in a clear and concise manner. Works with development to help troubleshoot coding problems. Improving the skill set of a Grade A SQA Engineer; plus: Works on test script automation procedures using a variety of software programming languages. Performs simple tool development and test automation tasks for individual projects or components. Participates code and design reviews on code written by development engineers. Develops documents, maintains, and trains staff on test automation and environment simulation tools and collects basic SQA metrics. Ability to debug and step through a major component of the product being tested. Examples include the ability to identify and locate resource leaks and/or out of bounds conditions. Ability to use at minimum, 2 3rd party software tools proficiently. Examples include Bounds Checker, PC Lint, True Coverage, Soft Ice, etc. Ability to isolate defects effectively and provide specific conditions for reproducibility in the debugger. Demonstrate a beginning understanding of OO design and implementation. Examples include abstraction, reuse and inheritance. Demonstrate an understanding of resource locks, defensive coding and synchronization. Ability to identify and solve basic security problems like buffer overflows, default logic fail safes (fail to deny/restrict) ”
Skills Description
We are looking for a QA Engineer with hands-on experience and a solid understanding of transactional, ecommerce, customer/partner facing applications. You must have a solid understanding of QA life cycles and possess excellent analytical skills.
Required Skills
4-5 years of related experience.
Solid understanding and practical experience of software development life cycles, with particular emphasis on detailed functional use, analysis and/or testing of web based applications
Hands-on knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, Dreamweaver required. Some JSP, and AJAX experience highly desired.
Experience with QTP or Mercury Quality Center.
Experience working with Content Management Systems like TeamSite and Oracle UCM
Experience in integration and system testing
Familiarity with bug tracking tools like JIRA, Bugzilla, Remedy
Ability to develop and execute regression test plans for new releases.
Ability to adjust easily to a fluid workload and schedule
General Experience and Skills
Very strong attention to detail for both functional points, but also user interface design and layout points for web based applications.
Solid understanding of the principles and best practices of software development
Participate in project status meetings involving the Project Manager, Development, and other stakeholders to provide visibility on QA activities ensuring QA is performed according to plan and in a timely fashion.
Development of test plans and test cases for QA projects to ensure product requirements work as expected
Ability to prioritize and multi-task successfully
Work independently with some direction after receiving instruction on new assignments
Use appropriate testing tools and follow standards established by the QA Management team of QA.
Adhere to currently established QA processes, Methodologies, and Standards.
Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
