This is our direct-client opening for an OpenStack Security Engineer located in Oklahoma City, OK. This can be either a full-time or a contract position and the salary and hourly rate depends on experience.
Our client is looking for a Security Engineer with broad experience in distributed systems, virtualization, networking, and platform security to join the Data Center Security Operations team.
As a member of this team, you will be actively involved with various cutting-edge Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) technologies, like OpenStack. In this role you will help to define the security strategy for cloud-based platforms and will work to ensure compliance with the best security practices.
The role involves being a part of a distributed team and working independently but in tight collaboration with other security, operations, and development team members. Ideal candidates must be passionate about security, strive to constantly improve and hone their skills, and be able to communicate best security practices to individuals at, above, and below their grade.
Responsibilities:
Define and test appropriate cloud security strategies
Liaise with all teams to help define and set the overall security profile
Collaborate with other teams on topics related to hardening/securing cloud environments
Perform hardening of the cloud environments and ensure compliance
Perform ongoing monitoring to detect and mitigate security events
Collaborate with multiple open-source communities around the world
Qualifications:
BS degree in computer engineering or computer science with 2-4 years of experience
Experience with OpenStack and open source cloud computing software
Experience administering UNIX/Linux systems required
Knowledge of Cloud Computing and/or Hosting infrastructures (IaaS)
Hands-on experience with virtualization
Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex distributed systems
Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical people that ensures their understanding
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience automating with script-based languages
Experience working in large-scale systems is a strong plus
