Job Description:   

 Software Developer Engineer for Java application migration from WAS application server to Tomcat application servers

This position is an important role in the Platform Simplification project.  This project will moving applications to a new Linux or Windows based technical stack; this will require migrating WebSphere application server Java code to Tomcat, re-platforming applications that currently execute on AIX or Solaris to Linux or Windows.

 

Description

• Function as a Software Developer expert and resource for assessing existing Java code executing on IBM Websphere application server version 5, 6 and 7, migrate the Java code and related components to execute on Tomcat java containers
• Able to perform manual review and remediation of  code to fix the incompatibilities to migrate the code to Tomcat or JBoss
• Migrate the deployment and run time configurations
• Build, deployment and unit testing the migrated programs
• Perform or support functional, system or integration testing for the migrated programs
• Document the migrate programs and provide knowledge transfer
• Support User Acceptance testing  and production cut-over for the migrated programs

Qualifications

·          At least 5 to 7 years of web and Java/J2EE development experience

·          Must have prior cross-platform code migration experience from WAS (Websphere application server) to Tomcat

·          Demonstrates hands-on expertise in J2EE technologies, EJBs, LDAP integration, LDAP query language

·          Expert understanding at implementing Web Services

·          Proven working knowledge of Eclipse IDE, ANT, SVN\CVS, Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures and experience with Oracle database fundamentals (Oracle 10g, 11g)

·          Extensive experience troubleshooting complex software modules by applying methodological approach

·          Keen understanding of performance issues and end to end debugging capabilities

·          Must be able to build, deploy, unit test and check logs for errors in development tomcat or jboss instance

·          Knowledge of TOMCAT and JBOSS administration is preferable

·          Development experience with Messaging(MQ/JMS) based Integration applications is preferable

·          Self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development

·          Familiarity with release management/source control systems (e.g. CVS, Subversion)

·          Experience with Agile software development practices is preferable
