Title: SCOM(System Center Operations Manager) Operation Engineer

Location: Redmond WA

Duration: 9-12+ Months contract

Start: ASAP

The Job Description is as follows: 

 

Notes:

·         The technical bar is very high in this group.

·         The group supports 300 line of Business apps at MSFT

·         They use 16 different iterations on SCOM to manage the apps.

·         The client has approved head count and budget.

 

 

Operations Engineer – SCOM, scripting, Windows, IIS, SQL

You will be supporting a complex and technical system and candidates need to be able to hit the ground running, work independently once getting settled in and be able to partner well across the team with strong technical and communication skills.  Currently monitor 48 apps/systems.

Requirements:

·         Experience designing and implementing system monitoring with tools such as SCOM.  Authoring custom Management Packs using XML & Authority Console.  Developing "Discoveries", monitors & performance collection rules. (#1 skill in importance is SCOM)

·         3+ years of demonstrated experience operating enterprise systems deployed on Windows Server 2003/2008 (#3 skill), IIS 6.0/7.0 (#4 skill) and SQL 2005/2008 (#5 skill) including administration, implementation, and troubleshooting

·         3+ years of demonstrated experience scripting administration and operational tasks or related development experience with a scripting language.  PowerShell preferred. (scripting is #2 skill); a bonus would be C# skills.

·         Demonstrated experience with various software development methodologies and the role operations plays including waterfall and agile methodologies, SCRUM experience specifically would be a plus.

·         Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills, especially with initially ambiguous or incomplete details.

·         Demonstrated collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams with a track record of building strong professional relationships.

·         Demonstrated excellence in customer focus and ability to communicate complex technical concepts and issues to a non-technical customer community in a concise, clear manner often tailored to the audience.
