IPT Systems Engineer position (Internet Protocol Telephony) so focus should definitely be on background/experience that's very strong on the voice/VoIP side (communications services, i.e., voice, fax, SMS, voice-messaging, etc.), but they need someone with some Network experience too since their group is responsible for it all.
Here's the original very brief job description they sent me when we recruited the first time around – not a lot of details but info above is pretty much what the job is – STRONG IPT/Voice background with some Network experience:
This is hands on position. Responsibilities include laying out new sites, VOIP expert and strong knowledge/experience on the Network side too since this group is responsible for both.
IPT Systems Engineer – Prefer Cisco Certification and at least 5-10 years of experience with Cisco Networking gear and IPT solutions.
Initial contract is 3 months with option to extend or become permanent. Looking for a very SENIOR-level who can be handed a brand new site to 'lay it out', and can take it and run with it without a lot of help from anybody.
Somebody with CCIE Cisco certification should have the experience and ability to work at the senior-level they need – other Cisco certifications are CCNP and CCNA.
