Description
Database Administrator 3 services will be the system database administrators/leads for several Department of Administration projects. The responsibilities include leading efforts in system database design, planning, execution and installation of current and new database infrastructure to support agency applications.

Duties can include performing database software upgrades and patches; assisting with the configuration of new functionality, testing, and the rollout into production; migrating and implementing database systems within enterprise infrastructure standards; disaster recovery planning and execution; backup and restore assistance - including refreshing instances; monitoring of server performance and capacities; implementing database security measures; customer support; troubleshooting; answering technical questions; & providing recommendations to senior management.

Candidate should have:

* Extensive system database experience with standard industry practices including a variety of server types, clustering, load balancing techniques, and security measures.
* Possess considerable database logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems and be able to prioritize trouble calls and respond to emergencies.
* Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the system database concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and be able to perform a variety of tasks.

This position typically requires system database administrator capabilities with 8 or more years of experience. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Currently we have 2 different technical areas needing coverage. Those details are included in the attached word document. The Qualifications section noted below are qualifications that all candidates require regardless of the specific technical area. SQL Systems Database Resource
The candidate providing services will need the following qualifications, skills, and abilities:
·         Expert with 8+ years experience installing, testing and implementing Microsoft SQL software and related server products.
·         Expert with 8+ years experience analyzing, testing and deploying new releases and patches of Microsoft SQL database software.
·         Knowledge of Database technologies (for example, Schema, Clustering, SSIS, SSAS, Backup and Restore, SQL Server Enterprise Manager, LDAP integration).
·         Knowledge of managing database security and account administration, which includes management of service accounts, permissions, passwords, delegation, configuration, and encryption.        Participate in the development of policies and procedures.  Ensure compliance of the Legislative Audit Bureau (LAB) audits of the database environments.
·         Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2012/Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and 2012, the intricacies of its configuration, as well as application and directory integration. 
·         Skills in monitoring server, storage, and database utilization data.
·         Skills in monitoring and managing the health of the database system.  Maintain records of tuning changes made and their effect on total resource utilization.
·         Ability to make independent judgment and plan software releases.
·         Skilled in creation of technical support architecture documentation and end-user documentation.
