Job Description:• Understands a broad spectrum of network technology in order to provide part or all of a detailed technical design which meets customer requirements.
• Direct responsibility for project engineering activities such as:
• Design WAN / Wan Optimization / Application Load-balance solutions
• Development and Implementation of new services
• Architect system integration with other Network services, and solutions from other towers and Xerox business partners.
• Provide advanced support/analysis for troubleshooting/diagnostic/investigative activities.
• Secondary party responsible of operational activities related to monitoring, reporting, audits, along with change, incident, & problem management.
• Must be able to interface with customers
• Must be able to interface with vendors on operational issues
• Must be able to analyze and troubleshoot independently
• Responsible for implementing part or all of the technical solution to the client, in accordance with an agreed technical design.
• Works with and under the direction of the Project/Technical Manager and with customer representatives.
• Provides technical leadership
• Contributes to knowledge tools and communities, and ensures best practices are documented and shared.
Education and Experience Required
5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total).
Skills, Knowledge, & Experience:
• Knowledgeable in WAN/WAN Acceleration/ Application Load-Balance technology
• Knowledgeable in Networking technologies including HSRP, BGP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, GRE, MGRE, S2SVPN, IPSec, NAT, VRF etc.
• Knowledge of WAN multi-protocol routing solutions
• Extensive expertise with Cisco routing solutions and offerings.
• Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP Network Naming and Addressing
• Experienced with DHCP, DNS, IP address management (IPv4 and IPv6)
• Understanding of DNS and how it applies to creation of a VIP (virtual IP) that represents all the servers being balanced.
• Experienced in supporting MPLS and VPN connectivity
• Experienced with QoS policy management and traffic shaping
• Experienced with IP Multicast configurations
• Manage router access security
• Management of router Access Control Lists
• Knowledge of Cisco/F5 load-balance solutions
• Experience with Riverbed WAN Optimization (Steelheads/Interceptors)
• IPT support –QoS, VLANs, analog and voice gateways, Voice VLANs, SRST
• Experienced in evaluation, testing, and interoperability of various hardware and software configurations.
• Knowledge of WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance network hardware specifications, acquisition, installation and validation.
• Experienced in development and maintenance of Network documentation including, architecture diagrams, physical network topologies and logical network diagrams
• Knowledge of security policies and processes for WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance.
• Knowledge of access requests, access rights lists, and password management as it applies to WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance Infrastructure.
• Experienced in development of WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance network standards and Engineering Templates.
• Experienced in backup and restore processes for WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance components
• Knowledgeable in Tier 4 advanced problem resolution. Able to assist in identification, diagnosis, and resolution of WAN / WAN Optimization / LoadBalance related software/hardware problems.
• Maintain network documentation including physical network topologies and logical network diagrams
• Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Business Resumption strategies for WAN
• ITIL Foundations knowledge
Qualifications Work Environment
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior or principal engineering/architecture role focused on WAN network solutions.
• Relevant Network certification (Cisco/F5/Riverbed) is a plus
• Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or related field is desired
• Available for off-hours escalations as Tier4 on-call support
• Little to no travel required (< 10%).
