JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Regional Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is part of the Corporate EHS team providing leadership and technical support across Ennis-Flint's portfolio of manufacturing locations.
  • This position will have multi-plant responsibility covering all aspects of EHS practices, initiatives, and regulatory requirements in partnership with Plant, Regional, and Corporate Leaders.
  • Partner with Plant Managers and EHS Coordinators to assess and strategically evaluate and prioritize applicable EHS requirements and compliance measures;
  • Provide technical and regulatory assistance as needed to ensure compliance and program effectiveness;
  • Ensure safety/health training is complete and effectively documented for each facility;
  • Conduct Industrial Hygiene (Respiratory Protection, Hearing, Ergonomic, etc.) and Safety Assessments as needed;
  • Travel to plant locations to conduct assessments, provide training, or other EHS duties; 25-50% travel possible.
  • Partner with other corporate team members to develop plans, programs, and procedures to ensure EHS program effectiveness;
  • Coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal for each facility, including required manifest and waste stream identification documentation;
  • Conduct EHS plant audits as required;
  • Maintain EHS documents and records in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Provide technical support to ensure regulatory compliance with air, stormwater, and waste permitting, and associated programs and plans (SPCC, Contingency, Emergency Preparedness, etc.). Obtain new permits as needed;
  • Interface with regulatory agencies as needed regarding EHS programs;
  • Support accident investigations to ensure adequacy of investigation, root-cause analysis, and process modifications as required;
  • Provide EHS technical support during plant Management of Change process;
  • Support development of Phase I and Phase II ESA reports;
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements by monitoring, tracking, and supporting Plant EHS compliance activities;
  • Support GHS and Proposition 65 (California) compliance;
  • Conduct pre-start up safety audits of equipment as needed; and,
  • Compile and submit required governmental reports, forms, documentation in the required time frame.

 

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science related field, with a minimum of (5) years EH&S program experience in a manufacturing, consulting, or regulatory profession;
  • Technical proficiency in at least one of the following areas: Industrial Hygiene, Air Permitting, Emergency Response, Water/Wastewater Management, Multi-media Compliance Assurance Auditing; or Hazardous Waste Permitting;
  • Extensive experience with EPA and OSHA standards;
  • Experience leading teams to develop programs, plans, and innovative EHS solutions;
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, organizational ability, and communication skills, which result in an ability to work cross functionally;
  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 preferred;
  • Manufacturing experience and Process Safety Management preferred;
  • Experience working with EHS specific software programs;
  • Experience with the GHS preferred; and,
  • Experience conducting EHS training to a multi-cultural audience, preferred.
  • High level ability and knowledge in Microsoft Office and EHS specific software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds;
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision;
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear;
  • Frequently required to walk and occasionally climb stairs;
  • Occasionally required to squat, stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and scoop.
