JOB DESRIPTION:
The Sr. Java Developer is responsible for developing software solutions within one or more technical disciplines in a manner that returns quantified business value. Success is measured by the ability to consistently achieve key functional and individual results with superior quality and delivery across the technology. The Development Design Lead performs analysis, designs, documents the solution design, develops code, and unit tests applications. The design lead must be able to define enhancement objectives, document the solution, estimate effort, code, and unit test. The Design Lead debugs reported defects in QA, troubleshoot production incidents recreating in the development environment and develops the solution to the application. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a MUST.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop robust, and easily maintainable code using multiple technologies on multiple platforms.
• Debug suspected defects within applications. Propose and implement solutions. 
• Participate in the requirements gathering process; drive to well defined and understood requirements that can be implemented and tested.
• Review test plans and support testers during the execution of functional, load, and user acceptance testing. 
• Serve as top tier operational support. Troubleshoot incidents in highly integrated systems where the root cause could be within one of several integrated H-D applications, an integrated hosted service, or a network or hardware provider. Assist in the determination of root cause. 
• Contribute to prioritization of bug fixes, patches, and enhancement requests made by the business and provide accurate estimates for development efforts.
• May provide daily direction for one to two development resources during the course of a project. Provide coaching and mentoring for developers.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• At least eight (8) years of successful project delivery with a focus on systems design particularly with large scale program and project delivery.
• Hands-on experience with development tools, administration, design, configuration, customization and implementation of applications, security and 3rd party integrations.
• Strong experience in, and orientation toward, solution design and structured system development methodologies.
• Experience coordinating design activities and deliverables across a technology project or program.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and developing other personnel in design and delivery roles.
• Proven record of accomplishment in planning, managing, and delivering information systems, preferably in consumer products, manufacturing, distribution, or financial services.
• Must have minimum of 5 years of experience working as a developer using J2EE/Java. Front-end development with JavaScript, jQuery, and JSON.

 

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

• Experience with declarative development tools.
• Specific technology experience would include SOAP, REST Web Services, Oracle and PLSQL.
• Direct development experience using JDK 1.6, 1.8.
• Experience with stored procedures, triggers and other database objects. 
  Experience working with SVN, Jira, ANT, branching and merging of code.
• UNIX experience navigating either AIX or Linux servers.
• Experience leveraging Jenkins integrated with Jira and SVN leveraging Continuous Integration.
• Experience available platforms such as WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
• Port an application from WebSphere (Service integration links, activation specification, queues) to JBoss.
• Agile development methodology.
