This is a 6 Months Contract Position based in Forthworth, TX
Position: Linux Admin with Red Hat Certification
Locations: Forthworth, TX
Duration: 6 months
Experience: 7+
Skill: Linux administration with VMware admin knowledge
Job Description:
A. Experience
· Post Graduate/Engineering graduate with minimum 7 Years of work experience
· 4 to 5 years of hands-on Linux (RH) experience in production support environment
· Should have experience of provisioning VM using VMWare/vCenter
B. Job Description /Areas of Responsibilities
· Ensure day to day operations of VMWare/VBlock infrastructure
· Installations, configurations, patching, access management, user management of RH Linux servers
· Day to day production support for Linux servers running application and database ( L2/L3 Support)
· Responsible for Level 3 support for all Unix/Linux related issues
· Assist in Level 1-2 support responsibilities and help train lower level engineers/administrators including creation of Trouble Shooting Guides
· Organize and coordinate the activities associated with installation, deployment, and upgrade or repairs to core Unix/Linux infrastructure systems. Define standards to be used by Level 1-3 support for the same activities for the Business IT Application Servers. Train Level 1-2 and verify compliance to established standards/guidelines
· Improve, track progress, and make recommendations on Infrastructure Improvements
· Capable of taking technical lead role for category A and B projects with more than 4 indirect reports.
· VMWare administration ( vCentre, vSphere, EXS servers) administration
· Provisioning Virtual Machines on vBlock using standard operating procedures and work instructions
· Migration of VM from servers – V2V and P2V migrations ;
· Cloning , adding mac address, assigning a new hard disk to VM
· Must be willing to work on-call by rotation
C. Competencies
· Analytical Abilities:- Has analytical abilities and can look at data from multiple sources in order to build cause effective reports that help in arriving to key issues and understanding of the problems
· Business Acumen: Understand linkage of metrics to key business drivers and align team effort on it. Has basic understanding of financial parameters and able to analyze impact.
· High impact Communication: highlight key ideas is able to articulate own points based on assessment of multiple points or views is able to justify with logical reasoning
· Function/process knowledge: Demonstrate the working knowledge of processes in at least one functional area in order to document specific as-is customer processes identify gaps and independently mapped to process. Has understanding of industry frame works such as ITIL, CMMI, COBIT
· Industry Domain Knowledge: Applies in depth knowledge of the principles of industry lexicon, competitor landscape sub-verticals and related best practices to provide insight to the customers across the entire function. Demonstrate thorough understanding of industry standard, regulation in one area such as HSE, Pharma etc. to suggest relevant middle enhancements for simple gaps and compliance
· At least one of the certifications from the list below
· Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Deployment and Systems Management
· Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Clustering and Storage Management
· Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Performance Tuning
· Red Hat Certificate of Expertise in Server Hardening
· Certification - ITIL V3 certification
