SCOM Engineer
for a 6 month + contract

Our direct client is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer - SCOM to build out next generation approaches and capabilities supporting monitoring of the corporate server infrastructure. You will work alongside a team of highly technical staff focused on building and maintaining a stable server environment utilizing SCOM 2012 as the primary monitoring platform.
Skills:
• Bachelor in Computer Science, Information Technology or other technical disciplines or Microsoft Certification in SCOM 2012 Monitoring
• 3+ years hands-on experience using monitoring tools (Specifically SCOM 2012) to identify, isolate, troubleshoot and resolve application problems
• 3+ years working with Microsoft Orchestrator or similar workflow automation tools.
• 3+ years working with minimum direction, managing multiple tasks and directional changes under short yet firm deadlines with a strong ability to work creatively and analytically
• Excellent knowledge of monitoring frameworks and technologies, network protocols, databases
• Technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
• Deep knowledge of SCOM 2012 and related technology
• Experience with Windows Systems administration using PowerShell
• Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of responsibility, urgency and drive.
Responsibilities:
• Create functional and operational monitoring system requirements and specifications
• Partner with neighboring teams in designing, testing, deploying and operating highly scalable monitoring systems and solutions
• Design and implement tools/systems to scale and automate operations tasks.
• Perform monitoring system performance analysis and tuning optimizations.
• Function as technical, engineering and operational subject matter expert for complex monitoring systems
• Identifies potential areas where existing monitoring capabilities and processes require change and where new ones need to be developed - especially to meet future business demands
• Analyze, install, acquire, modify and support operating systems, database or utilities software.
Plan, conduct, and direct the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems.
• Analyze, design, acquire, and implement projects of LAN and/or WAN systems.
• Plan, design, acquire and implement telecommunications voice and/or wire systems.
• Provide extensive troubleshooting and technical expertise to identify and resolve issues that impact delivery.
• Set and/or improve standards for systems administration, e.g. process, builds, monitoring, reporting, and documentation.
• Contribute to a collaborative design process as well as execute on tactical and strategic initiatives.
• Work with customers to ensure the environment is error free.
• Provide strategic influence across groups, projects and products to implement cost-effective technology solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Provide long-term systems strategy and vision.
• Mentors others, as necessary.
