Title: Controls Design Engineer II

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Controls Design Engineer II works to ensure that automation systems, equipment and control systems are integrated to function optimally to support the processes they are governing.

Works to maintain standardized processes and automation systems and creates bills of material that are designed to function in like processes across the organization (Best and Standard Practices)

Engages vendors and contractors relevant to automation control systems and equipment to leverage the Company's buying power and to protect the integrity of the assets and cost effective integration of automation processes.

Assists automation projects to move forward per Continuing Improvement plans and goals.  This is a hands-on position, and the job is not done until the equipment and control systems work. 

Works closely with other Engineering personnel, IT personnel, control system programmers, fabrication staff, Maintenance, equipment vendors and consultants to ensure optimal alignment of automation projects.

Functions as backup person for various functions with the Engineering team.

Represents the Continuous Improvement team and Ennis-Flint in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner.

Ability to resolve automation issues/problems to internal customers' satisfaction.

Ability to carry out projects meeting timing and budget requirements.

Ability and knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Ability to learn and carry out functions in MS Project.

Ability to use CAD at a high functioning level.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred

Demonstrated factory automation experience, preferably including robotic automation solutions

Automation software and PLC / ladder logic programming experience. 

Rockwell, SCADA and process control system programming experience, a plus

Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented and have a proven ability to organize, analyze, set priorities, and multi task in a fast paced environment

Demonstrated success in working in a team environment supporting manufacturing and maintenance/fabrication

Demonstrated CAD skills at intermediate to expert user level

Demonstrated skills with Robotic materials handling including robotic machine loading/unloading, a plus

Control panel design experience, a plus

Start-up and troubleshooting experience, a plus

Team Leadership experience

Project Management experience
