DB2 DBA opportunity with a high profile company in Sacramento CA this
is a 3 month contract that may go longer.

Job description:

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of DB2 experience. The
candidate should be qualified with the expertise to recommend and
implement solutions to solve complex problems, while demonstrating
leadership, teamwork, dedication and flexibility. The candidate should
also have hands on experience with migrating DB2 v8 db's to v9.5. The
primary role of this position will be to focus on the data center and
DB2 version upgrade.

Primary Responsibilities:

.Come up to speed on our existing environment
.Review existing migration plan and provide feedback
.Support and document the installation of DB2 V9.5 fp4a server on up
to 13 servers
.Support the installation of DB2 v9.5 fp4a client side drivers
.Create automated scripts for maintaining a local log-shipping HA copy
of 4 db's
.Execute and document, including timings, of all tasks for the "day
of" production migration
.Perform test of bringing up HA DB's and pointing app's to HA version
.Document process for fail-over
.Perform test of failing back to primary DB's and pointing app's back
to the Primary
.Document process for fail-back
.Perform resets of new environments back to V8 for any required re-
testing
.Support the initial, functional and performance testing of the new
DB2 v9.5 servers
.Support the tuning and configuration of the v9.5 fp4a JDBC clients on
application servers
.Support the implementation of disc based backups on new hardware
.Support the implementation of custom database Site-Scope monitors
.Knowledge transfer activity with members of the DBA team
.Assist with the execution of the actual production migration

Experience:

10+ years of DB2 DBA experience with hands on experience in planning
and executing DB2 v8 to v9 upgrades.
