Job Description and Skills Required
This person must be legally eligible to be hired as a state employee after contract portion ends only if there is a suitable FTE position at that time. US Citizen or
Green Card only.
The scope of work is to provide the full range of Network Engineer skills (LAN/WAN/VLAN) with emphasis more on LAN than WAN, though either side would be primarily Cisco equipment. This position will support the Information Technology Division's Network Management department.
Fundamental requirements:
• Advanced working knowledge of and 6 or more years of professional experience with network administration of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Cisco routers, switches and firewalls
•Thorough, in-depth knowledge of and experience with TCP/IP and all layers of the OSI Model
•Meticulous attention to detail, skilled in providing documentation for end-users, ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously and to work both independently and in a team environment
•Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
•Legally eligible to be hired as a state employee
•Desired but not required: working knowledge of VMWare, Citrix, VPN
•Considerable knowledge of HP Proliant and HP Blade server environment
•Considerable knowledge of HP Storage Area Network environment to include zoning configuration.
Responsibilities include:
•Routine network administration, security administration
•Installation of operating system, application and hardware patches and upgrades to servers and network devices as required.
•Network security configuration and administration
•Special projects installing server and network equipment and software
•Create and maintain network documentation as required to include Visio diagrams

•Microsoft Office Professional 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007
•Windows Active Directory, LDAP, WSUS
•Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points and ASA firewalls

•HP Proliant and Blade Matrix servers
•VMWare
•Storage Area Networks, Direct Attached Storage, Network Attached Storage
•DS-3 telecommunications, WAN, LAN, VLAN
•Cisco Voice Over IP
•HP VLS and EML Enterprise Backup environment
An MCSE, CCNA or some kind of SAN certification would be desirable but not required.
