UNIX SYSTEM ADMIN

Location: New York

Duration:  12 months

Rate: $40/hr CTC

 

 

Critical Skills:

 

1) Solaris 10 (build, install, configuration and general admin support, including SAN/Storage config)

2) RedHat Linux 5.3 (build, install, configuration and general admin support, including SAN/Storage config)

3) Veritas Cluster Server 4.x/5.x

4) Veritas Volume Manager 4/5.X

5) Solaris ZonesKey soft skill requirements:

• Minimum 8+ years experience with Solaris and Linux
• Must be very hands-on technical, have a passion for production support
• Very strong problem analysis and resolution skills
• Thoroughly understand protocols and internal operations of Unix utilities/tools
• Ability to schedule resources, plan work tasks for team and provide workflow reports to management
• Experience in financial, real-time production support environments (trading), understanding mission critical operations and the administration requirements around restoration of services
• Ability to train others
• Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to share skills and knowledge

 

Key technical Requirements:

For each of the technologies and services below, candidates must know:

a)     commands associated with the technology

b)    the configuration file options/directives for each technology

c)     Thoroughly understand the internal, low level protocol operations of each technology

 

• Solaris 10/9/8 and all services within Solaris
• Linux and all services within RedHat Linux
• NIS
• NFS
• DNS and naming services
• LDAP
• Jumpstart & Kickstart
• Veritas Cluster Server and complex clustering technologies
• Veritas Volume Manager and ODS/SVM
• Security analysis, system integration and architecture skills
• Performance analysis and tuning
• SAN/Storage, fabric, Luns, switches, replication
• Networking, TCP/IP
• BCP/DR
• Hardware: Advanced level knowledge of enterprise class Solaris and Linux hardware and software configurations, including clustered configurations, multi-domain systems
• Strong VM-Ware and virtualization experience
