SAS Administrator Position:

- Enterprise Business Intelligence Server components;

Job Roles / Responsibilities:
The following are the responsibilities that are expected to be taken care.
- Administer the SAS9 software and environment, including installation and configuration and general configuration changes, as needed;
- Start, stop, and/or pause the servers that are used in the SAS system;
- Perform and schedule regular backups of the Metadata Server and physical files;
- Use system logs or set logging options;
- Administer the scheduling of jobs and reports;
- Use SAS Management Console to administer metadata;
- Add new libraries to the Metadata Server;
- Via SAS Management Console, control user access to various parts of the SAS system, granting permissions to read, write, create or view reports and data within the system – ensure that users see only the information that they are authorized to access. Create and configure libraries and permissions for users and groups of users, and assign logins – (e.g., authentication and authorization.). Basically, design, implement and maintain the security framework (access rights and privileges, user roles / groups, SSO, etc.);
- Make sure passwords get reset for SAS-related products;
- Ensure users can access and navigate the SAS products installed on-site;
- Assist with problems pertaining to accessing the SAS server(s) or data;
- Monitor for availability and then install updates to SAS software (patches / maintenance releases / hot fixes, etc.);
- Customize the reporting environment for users, such as create different views or content for different types of Portal user groups…., or create logos, organization colors, and page themes that best suits the organization;
- Monitor and log SAS servers and spawners, and then optimize memory usage or tune servers for optimal performance (leverage SAS resources, such as SAS Technical Support or the SAS "technical oversight representative," to discuss findings, determine suitable plans of action, and/or present and implement solutions);
- Promote or replicate a metadata repository to a different host environment;
- Create, modify, and maintain various folder structures within SAS Management Console to compartmentalize libraries, reports, maps, and data;
- Ensure all authorized users are using proper configuration procedures when setting up information maps within Information Map Studio by means of information sharing and verification—also provide knowledge transfer to all users on the process in either written, verbal, or demonstration form, as required by user;
- Promote individual BI objects;
- Act as a liaison to SAS Technical Support for SAS users at the clients site;
- Make resources and content items available to the Web applications;
- Register / add data sets to the SAS server(s)--use SAS Management Console to create and store metadata for the data sets;
22. In addition to Management Console, use Information Map Studio (IMS) to register data sets and make them available for reporting tools such as Web Report Studio. Further, use functions within IMS to make final definition and formatting changes to the data set;
- Define metadata libraries and assign group and individual level permissions to libraries;
- Via SAS Management Console, administer user accounts on all client servers (maintain list of users and accounts; add, delete and disable user accounts; secure access; and ensure servers are available and running properly);
- Issue passwords and assign roles to all new users of the system using SAS Management Console;
- Troubleshoot system access and password problems experienced by users;
- Work with the client to grant appropriate access to servers and systems while monitoring development for compliance;
- Develop administrator processes, document the processes, and then train other client users, as warranted, to take over the processes;
- Maintain all system configuration documentation by collecting, storing, and updating the documentation;
- Configure Load-Balancing;
31. Understand, manage and administer changes to the following:
a. The clients SAS environment and what products are installed on which machines and servers;
b. What ports are being used on the server(s) by the SAS system and for what purpose;
c. Which SAS client applications are installed (e.g., SAS Management Console, SAS Information Map Studio, etc.) and be familiar with how plug-ins are configured;
d. Which SAS servers are installed and configured on the data server (e.g., SAS Metadata Server, SAS Workspace Server, SAS Stored Process Server, and SAS OLAP Server) and be familiar with customizations and definitions that are specific to the clients site on those applications;
e. Which SAS mid-tier applications are installed (e.g., SAS Information Delivery Portal, SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office) and be familiar with customizations and definitions that are specific to the clients site on those applications; and
f. Any required third party tools and the supported versions of those third party tools (for example, a Java Development Kit [JDK], a WebDAV server, a Java Runtime Environment [JRE], or a Servlet Container).
32. Assist with SAS technology conversions and migrations;
33. Modify SAS technology configuration settings due to IT infrastructure changes;
- Provide knowledge transfer, mentoring and expert advice to the client on the efficient administration of the SAS system;
- Administer third party software associated and included with SAS software components.
